Ground Gas Monitoring
In-situ ground gas monitoring is undertaken to determine the level of ground gas protection measures required.
Borehole installations are monitored with an infra-red landfill gas analyser for methane, carbon dioxide and oxygen levels, and sometimes hydrogen sulphide and carbon monoxide. Gas flow rates, atmospheric pressure and other environmental conditions are also recorded.
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can also be monitored with a photo ionisation detector (PID).
